My Heart, My Home

Life on Norfolk Farm Day One

My heart has slowly been breaking for the last few months as we have discovered that we must leave our beloved little home on Buttermik Rd. But today, it must begin mending itself as our family settles in to life on the farm. We have been gradually making the house ours with new paint and cleaning and moving and today was finally the day that we moved ourselves in. The house feels more and more like us and less like Pop and Mommom each day and with each chore completed. So, from now on, the Chronicles of our little troop will be coming from a new location. We have only moved 1.5 miles but in emotional miles it seems like a long journey. Life is never dull.

The cows are in full swing with their calving, so I'm sure our first night here will not be a quiet one. We have also found that after an eventful afternoon, Abbie is afraid of the farm, she got shocked by the electric fence, then turned around in the kitchen and ran into the door frame and ran to her crate to hide from the big bad world we've dumped her into. I can only hope that Charlotte and Norah adjust to life here with a little more grace.

Good Night!

drowning in snow here...it has been snowing allllll day long and we have at least a foot of the white stuff so far. Ernie out working all day, I'm sure he'll come home wet and cold and just plain grumpy and here, we've been sitting and waiting for him all day long...life will not be good this evening. I just want to sleep but between the kids and the dog, this is next to impossible. I was so looking forward to a cozy day with all 4 of us @ home watching movies and cuddled up, but we are still minus one...miserable.

it snowed yesterday...certainly pretty but a little inconvenient...Ernie hates it...can't stand to come in wet and cold, but house is cozy and we had hot soup and panini sandwiches for dinner...birthday party for Grammy today, hope all will be there for her, all she wants is to be surrounded by her family and so many don't call or come, they are missing out on so much, I don't know what we would do without her...the house is nearly finished with being decorated, I still need to find the tree skirt and the tree topper, they must be together somewhere...check out the pics posted of the girls in the snow and the house decorations...at least the snow provided a great backdrop and the perfect inspiration for this year's Christmas cards...

happy october!

I love fall! And I am so excited that it is here!!! unfortunately, it goes way too quickly and before you know it, Christmas will be here and the red and green will push away all of the warm harvesty colors...I love Christmas too...but in a different more frenzied way than my beloved fall. I have to finish painting the living room so I can get everything clean and shiny then decorate to my hearts content. I will post pics when I'm done with everything.

color crazy

I have finally picked out the perfect colors for our living room...the ceiling of the living room and going into the kitchen/dining room is "Pale Honey" and the walls will be "Pyramid Gold" with accents in "Macchiato" and "Mossy Green", I also decided on drapes for the sliding doors and have found a bookcase! so much to do and so little time...I have the living room ceiling painted entirely, the hardest part of the whole job- Done! now to get in gear and finish painting the rest so I can get everything back in place and get my fall/halloween decorations out. the colors will be perfect with all my decor...can't wait to see it all done

And I have to admit, going out to find the cute little outfits and shoes was a lot of fun too. My girls definitely look the part of little dancers...I'll have to post pictures later.
